A Day of Exploring our Connections

On this third day we encourage women to set aside time for sharing from the heart, storytelling, listening deeply to one another and being heard.
Let this be a day when we open our hearts, embrace each other's diversity
and look for our common points of connection with those
in our immediate circles as well as with women around the world.
Let us feel our oneness and envision how together
we can weave a world that works.

Some ideas for activities to celebrate this day:

  • Invite several women to sit in a circle, inviting each woman to tell a story centered on a common theme: your first love, your first broken heart, your most transformational moment, your best childhood memory, etc.

  • Use a talking stick or some other small object to pass around a circle. The woman holding the object is the only one who can speak and all others have the opportunity to practice deep listening.

  • Make a telephone call to a woman who have special impact in your life that you have lost touch with, to express how you have carried her energy forward in your life.

  • Send an e-mail to a woman who has touched your life in some way, honoring your connection.

  • There are many different women's organizations in your community. Spend some time today to learn about one new organization that sounds interesting to you.

  • Organize a women's resource fair on this day, featuring a display by each women's organization in your community. Be creative to explore opportunities for collaborative action!
