Women from the village of Dhukuchhap, Lalitpur in Nepal celebrated International Women's Day for the first time in 94 years. The event was planned to help educate and inspire Nepali women in the village work together to help weave a better world. Several programs were presented including

1) "Preparation for Motherhood" to help women know about safe delivery. This is important information because every two hours a woman dies in Nepal during childbirth.

2) A music competition where participants were encouraged to voice their opposition to discrimination through song. A cash prize was awarded to the winning organization and that will be used as a scholarship for a girl child.

3) Story telling where women told their stories about their changing lifestyles and its impact on their village.
